Default Where to begin?

I'd like to start jogging/running. I have access to treadmills, stationary bikes, and elliptical machines, I plan on using those. Where do I start and how often sould I work out? Any tips?

Elliptical is hard to beat for cardiovascular exercise.

When I started a few years ago I spent about 30 to 40 min per day on the elliptical low to moderate intensity meaning heart rate at 60% to 70% max.

Now I work about 40 min on the elliptical at high intensity - 80% to 90% max heart rate - every other day. Then I spend another 30 or 40 minutes of low intensity on the treadmill. On the off days I do about 20 or 30 min of resistance work. I sometimes get outside, too. It has to be kept interesting.

A good heart rate monitor is a good investment.

Good luck.

That's impressive! I really need to get an elliptical.. I've been looking on Craig's list.. haven't found a good one yet but I think that 's a good machine.. of course, my knees always give me trouble ( I used to ski and messed them up) ... anyway.. I'm envious of your committment to working out! You motivate me.
