Default Burlesque Show in Guthrie

I'm ok with it. I would also be ok with a strip club in Logan County outside of city limits and not sure why no one has opened one yet. So, for or against and why or why not?

Brook I think you need to be a tad more precise in your comments, most of the people looking here have no idea what your talking about.

I'll help.

The Bluebell Saloon in Guthrie, (FYI the oldest bar in Oklahoma), the current owners are attempting to remodel the upstairs that was burned about a year ago. In the upstairs they would like to have "Burlesque" type shows. The owners are in a dispute, of sorts, with the city counsel on whether it is zoned for such things, basically what the definition of "is" is, type of argument.

The Bluebell is located on the south-west side of the downtown district. The gun fight shows use to happen right in front. Historically, the upstairs of the Bluebell was a brothel in the early days before and after statehood.

Some of the arguments have been; If it's done in a classy way, historically it's pretty interesting to have it there, and other's say it's trash and we shouldn't allow it in our town.

That's the argument as I see it.

You are correct Blangdon, Eischens is the oldest bar in Oklahoma. I googled it. So, that corrected, what do think about having a burlesque show? Trash or good old fashioned fun?

It depends on what kind of burlesque it is:

I think the difference is Eischens is a beer-bar and is the oldest bar in Oklahoma. Bluebell is the oldest saloon in Oklahoma (serves liquor).

My bad, I said Bar, meant to say Saloon. I stand corrected.
What is mostly famous for is that Tom Mix served drinks there before he became famous.

From Wikipedia
"With its origins in nineteenth century music hall entertainments and vaudeville, in the early twentieth century burlesque emerged as a populist blend of satire, performance art, and adult entertainment, that featured strip tease and broad comedy acts that derived their name from the low comedy aspects of the literary genre known as burlesque."

From what I understand the shows would be like what is described above, without the full strip tease. I think the debate is to what level the "strip" can go down to.

I guess the only way to get an opinion or response around here is to accidentally identify the 1st bar or break a rule.
