French fries with brown gravy and cheese....good stuff. I didn't even know cream gravy existed until I moved here. Nor did I realize people ATE catfish. Or cow balls.

You know, I don't know how they make the gravy. But there are MANY types of brown gravy you know. Not just beef flavored. I'd say it's more like Thanksgiving gravy without the chunks of guts floating in it. I love the word y'all, y'all! It's cute. I use it all the time. Y'all. Your great uncle's roomate can kiss my grits.

gotcha... so it's more of a chicken/turkey like flavouring in the gravy... just trying to imagine what it would taste like. even though gravy is practically considered a vegetable in oklahoma... brown gravy on fries? i dunno.
as for the word "y'all"... it's not necessarily my hypothetical uncle we're talking about here. let's just say there's been some heated discussions surrounding the usage of the word by particular persons on the board. personally, i don't have a problem with the word. -M |

Just throwing my two cents in about Cattlemens...I ate there a couple nights ago and was disappointed. First, the decor was frankly a bit depressing. I know it is suppose to be "historic" but the restaurant looked more like something out of 1975 than something of years long gone by. As for the food, the best word I can use to describe it is "basic". There didn't seem to be too many sides to choose from. In fact, I'm wondering if there was anything at all you could have with your steak besides a baked potato. All in all, I left the restaurant comforted with the fact that there are better choices out there to choose from.

Speaking of Cattleman's, has anyone picked up the book '1001 Places To Visit Before You Die'? You can find it at your local bookstore.
It has two things listed for OKC.... 1) Oklahoma Bombing Memorial 2) Cattleman's Steakhouse I couldn't believe out of 'all' the exciting things to do in Oklahoma City, Cattleman's was in the top two. |

I like Cattlemen's for breakfast. Anyone ever had breakfast there? Actually, i've never been there for anything other than breakfast.
I wrote about Cattlemen's for breakfast here on my blog. |
