It seems that much of faith is based on the idea that without purpose, there is no meaning to our lives.

Why does this need for some sort of universal purpose or 'plan' for our lives exist?

Those I've spoken with about this tell me that there must be a purpose because if there wasn't one, what reason would we have to exist and that it would be a true waste if there was no purpose. I understand the sentiment, but I see no logic.

Does anyone here hold faith because you feel there has to be some sort of higher purpose and that without it, we simply would not be here?

A world in which we were just 'here' and without purpose may seem rather futile, but does that futility make it any less reasonable?
