This is a hard one here guys. I have a friend who's turning 30 weekend after next. He is the third in line amongst his siblings to hit the big one, thus far. Both of them had theirs at Sky Bar downtown and he's done with that. At the same time, he wants it to be some place where we can all stick at and we're not hopping from venue to venue--as we've done for the past nine years every weekend! BakerStreet is too smokey and loud (he wants his parents present) and ROK Bar - Northside may be the only other option because Tao Bistro is behind on their target opening date.

I mentioned that we could go to places like McNellies or The Prohibition Room & he had suggested something like Cafe Nova but we just don't want to have to drive all around & he doesn't want to have a limo (i don't know why) for the night...

So my question is very legit yet may yield no answers because of the guidelines this friend has set before me. All suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

how about redpin? my gf had her 30th there and it was a blast! nova is overrated and the crowd is not like it used to be...

I was in conversation with someone a few weeks back and they were telling me about how they went down to Redpin for a party. The overall tab was $1,200. Granted there were 20 of them...but still, that's some $$$. We got the space at Nova for free. No dinner is included like it would have been & would have cost a lot of money as well but he'll take it!
