Convert all intersections to traffic circles.

Technically if there are 2 lanes with no dedicated right hand turn lane then those 2 lanes are straight lanes and you are allowed to turn right from the right hand lane, but if someone is going straight then you have to wait for that person before going right. you do not have to get in the left lane if you do not want to.

True enough. But there's a difference been doing just what's legal and doing what's right. If it were you stuck behind that one person not turning, wouldn't you rather they had moved over so you didn't have wait for the light to change for them to get out of the way so you could make your turn?

technically, if a group of people are discussing something called a 'pet peeve' then what is and isn't legally permissable is generally beyond the scope of the discussion. would you like for me to explain to you what a 'pet peeve' is? (2/10)

A pet peeve is a very annoying bird who can mimic the voice of the person carrying it.

Well isn't that nice. Someone turning right who never gets impatient at having to wait behind someone who is not turning right.

Frankly, I don't believe you. You can say it. But you'll never convince me.

I hope everyone's signaling their intention to turn in plenty of time for the motorist ahead of them to see that they'd like to make a right on red at the upcoming intersection.

Judging by your previous troll posts, you would be the guy who makes everybody wait to make a right turn behind you.

Sometime I try to squeeze thru what space left and the car is mine, I know my car, I know the limit, but still...mom (if she with me) would scream like a manic thinking I wouldn't make it. Most of the time, I do make it. Sometimes, it encourages the driver up front to move up a bit and I get thru. Sometimes, there are pure idiots that doesn't do crap, so I end up stuck right there until I can move forward.

The Sunnylane exit in Del City, off of I-40 has a no right turn on red, because of the angle of Sunnylane and highway overpass. I had seen many idiots still turning on red. I even had seen idiots stopping there, waiting, and I have to honk at them, hello! The light is green! There is a light dedicated to tell you to turn right while the other main lights is red.

I have not seen a roadkilled bunny at this intersection.

All intersections should have designated right turn lanes. Would solve the problem. Seems to work in Edmond.

I agree, but where are these turn lanes in Edmond? On the grass?

my pet peeve is when i'm in the right lane at an intersection, wanting to go straight for another five miles, and the person behind me is getting all pissed off, teliing me i'm #1 and everything, just because i have to make them waite one, maybe TWO min. before they can turn! some people just thinks only about themselves and not about others.

Hmmm. And one could argue that were you thinking about others, you would pull into the left/center lane so as to allow those others to turn on right after red.

I find it personally annoying, but don't honk or throw out rude gestures because of it.

I will honk if said person has their right-turn blinker turned on and they are just sitting there waiting for an engraved invitation to turn.

i was joking about people thinking of themselves....sort of. i do believe most everybody thinks of only themselves only, and not others when driving......preiod.

my personal driving pet peeve is this: you are in the right lane of the highway in slow traffic waiting to get off at the only exit. and people on the left lane next to you thinks they should not waite because..... 1) they are better and more important than you, or 2) they own that part of the highway, try to squeeze in at the very last moment to get off the highway. making the right lane that much slower, and also making the left lane next to you slower and more dangerous.

that itself is very, very rude indeed. there is no law that says a driver HAS to turn right on red. He has every right to sit there and waite for that light to turn green before he turns right, gee weezz.

I would agree.

It might not be on the books, but it is certainly a well-known "unwritten" rule. If you're permitted to go, then go. Nothing should be holding you back at that point.

It's like the people who stop coming off the Hefner Parkway at certain exits, when they have signs posting "do not stop."

yes frittergirl, i myself do try to get in the left lane if not turning, for example: i live in mustanf and get off on mustang rd. from i-40 and head south. at reno i try to get in the left lane bc the majority of traffic turns right to head home. but i know people who either was taught to never turn on red, or just do not do it for safty reasons. i too get ants in my pants if i'm behind someone who is going staight and i want to turn, because i am always in a hurry so i can definitly understand.

Perhaps...but most of time, the person is really just sitting there because they're not paying attention and hasn't noticed the traffic has cleared. I'll usually tap my horn too, although just just barely enough to grab their attention, but not so much as to say - "heck yeah, I'm annoyed!"

BTW FritterGirl, I did have the opportunity to go up to the northbound Hefner Pkwy to East-bound Memorial intersection over the past couple days, and there is no sign that says "DO NOT STOP". There is a lane for that right turn (which is marked by a sign), but it merges into oncoming traffic. It is a longer merge lane though, and allows for fairly smooth traffic flow. Just an FYI.
