  • Roughtail Brewing announces new location

    08.01.18 Press Release:

Roughtail Brewing Company is pleased to announce their forever home at approximately 220 W. Memorial Road in north Oklahoma City.

The building will total 20,000 sq. ft. and occupy the northern half of the 5.5-acre property. The newly constructed facility will house 12,750 sq. ft. of production space, featuring 30 ft. clear ceilings and a brand new 30 BBL Canadian-built DME brewhouse. The upgraded space and equipment will allow Roughtail Brewing Company to initially double their brewing capacity and enables future growth up to 50,000 barrels per year.

The remaining 8,000 sq. ft. will feature a combination of taphouse and office space. The main room of the taphouse will feature an open-air concept and provide views of the production floor. In addition, the taphouse will feature a private event space and an auxiliary bar for special events and brewery only releases. An outdoor patio area will also come to fruition shortly after opening.

Roughtail is working with Key Construction and Small Architects to bring this vision to reality. Funding is provided by in part by Intrust Bank. Roughtail plans to break ground this fall, with an opening date in 2019.

“We feel that there is a serious need for a craft brewery located in north OKC,” said Blaine Stansel, CEO and co-founder of Roughtail Brewing Company, “The area is booming with new things going in at Chisolm Creek almost every week, and existing entertainment attractions such as Main Event, Topgolf, and iFLY. In addition, the low cost of land allowed us to buy enough so we’ll never have to worry about outgrowing this spot.”

“Our last major manufacturing expansion was back in July 2017, and ever since we’ve been producing at max capacity. This move will allow us to continue to move into markets outside of Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas, and assure our current customers of continual product availability,” said Tony Tielli, COO, and co-founder of Roughtail Brewing Company.

The total project costs are around $5.1 million, including land, the building, and new equipment. While Roughtail will be bringing over a lot of their current production equipment, they hope to sell their current brewhouse and accouterments to a new startup brewery, who can come in and take-over a turnkey operation.
