  • First look at detailed plans for lower Scissortail Park

As construction continues on the upper section of the MAPS3 park now named Scisscortail Park, plans are being drawn to finish the 28-acre lower park, which will run from I-40 to the Oklahoma River and ultimately connect the heart of the central business district with the riverfront.

Paid consultants Hargreaves Associates presented the first detailed plans which will continue to evolve, although the final design should be somewhat close to what is shown below.

The 38-acre upper park is set to be complete in 2019 with work on the lower park to start soon thereafter with the timeline for full completion set for early 2021.

The city recently submitted plans to begin demolition of the area, currently occupied by auto scrap yards and a few small homes.

The entire park project will cost $132 million and be funded by sales tax through MAPS3.
