  • New brewery coming to Film Row area

West downtown continues it's hot streak.

Angry Scotsman Brewing has signed a lease to create a brewery, taproom and beer garden at 704 W. Reno.

The 5,000 square foot building was built in 1930 but has been vacant for some time.

Plans call for the land immediately east of the structure – with nice of views of the skyline – to be a 5,000 square foot patio with shade structures and plenty of seating.

The new Oklahoma City Boulevard, which will follow the footprint of the recently relocated I-40, is directly south and will be starting construction this summer.

Owner Ross Harper has been a passionate home brewer since 2005 and after leaving Oklahoma for a job in Indianapolis, continued to follow the changing Oklahoma liquor laws and decided it was a good time to come back and 'go pro' with his own brewery.

Harper is originally from Glasgow and originally came to Oklahoma for a start-up opportunity after finishing his PhD in chemistry in Miami, Florida.

Hoping to have broad appeal, Angry Scotsman will feature 4 beers year round and have more seasonal varieties.

Harper has executed a lease on the property and will take possession on July 1st, and hopes to start renovation and general work after all the necessary permits are obtained.

Angry Scotsman will joining a suddenly thriving downtown brewery scene, with Anthem and Twisted Spike already open and Stonecloud, Elk Valley and Prairie all underway.
