  • First look at final design for Will Rogers Airport expansion

Architects have revealed the final design plans for a major expansion at Will Rogers World Airport.

The first of two phases, the terminal will be expanded to the east with a 3-level atrium like structure and four additional gates.

The Oklahoma City Airport Trust employed Frankfort Short Bruza Associates to develop the plan in order to address growing traffic and the desire to improve security processing and amenities for those coming to the airport to meet and greet arriving passengers.

A massive new security checkpoint will be constructed and the two existing security areas will be converted to meeter/greater areas.

The next step in the process will be the creation of construction drawings.

Completion for the $89.6 million phase is estimated to be the first quarter of 2019.

Additionally, the trust voted to raise parking rates by $1 per day for surface lots and $2 per day for structured parking.

Plans are underway to add a new parking structure directly north of the others.
