  • OnCue buys Travelodge near Penn Square

OnCue Express continues its aggressive expansion and has purchased yet another site in Oklahoma City.

The Stillwater-based company recently closed on a $3.2 million deal to buy the Travelodge motel at NW Expressway and Blackwelder, very near Penn Square Mall.

As we covered in an article last year, OnCue continues to step into the void left by a gentleman's agreement between the local owners of 7 Eleven and QuikTrip that keeps the Tulsa company from opening its elaborate convenience stores in Central Oklahoma.

As OnCue has started to fill this niche, 7 Eleven is now opening larger, more expansive stores of its own.

The motel was built in 1960 as the DeVille Motor Hotel and has operated under various hotel flags throughout its existence.

The property now appears closed and is fenced in.
