Three years ago, New Source Energy bought the property and filed plans to renovate for their new headquarters. The company then experienced legal and financing problems and subsequently sold to an LLC tied to local law firm Whitten Burrage in February.
$1.4 million was paid in 2013 and the recent sale saw the price rise to $2.1 million, a 59% increase in less than 3 years.
The latest plans show an ambition renovation and expansion, with an additional 4th level and terrace.
The Markham, with it's classic stone facade, has sat idle for almost a decade, with it's last occupant being Bentley Flooring. It was built in 1920 but Colonel B.H. Markham and initially served as a dealership of Chandler and Cleveland automobiles.
Interior demolition work has already commenced.
