  • Academy to anchor huge shopping center near Yukon

Building permit applications were filed this week for the first store in the massive Market at Czech Village development near Yukon.

Academy Sporting Goods is planning a $3 million 62.943 sqaure foot store that would be part of the first phase of the project, expected to cover almost 80 acres at the southwest corner of NW 10th and Czech Hall Road.

Tennesse-based GBT Realty announced plans in 2014 but until now none of the tenants had been identified.

Ultimately, the Market at Czech Village could contain 450,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space.

Academy currently operates 4 stores in the Oklahoma City area: Edmond, Norman, NW 63rd and NW Expressway and S. Walker and I-240. Academy is based in Katy, Texas and operates over 200 stores nationwide.

The NW Expressway and Edmond locations have recently undergone major renovations.
