The historic Haunted House restaurant in northeast Oklahoma City is set for a rebirth as J. Bruner's at the Haunted House.
Update: Reopening now set for July 4th.
The restaurant's Facebook page offers this description: “J Bruner's at the Haunted House is a continuation of the legend that Marian Thibault created in 1964, combined with J Bruner's in Osage Beach, Missouri. We will be a white tablecloth, fine dining steakhouse and a continuation of the classic Haunted House Restaurant in Oklahoma City.”
The existing J. Bruner's is located on the shore of Lake of the Ozarks and is owned by Patrick Boylan. Boylan bought the Haunted House and surrounding wooded property at auction in April but at the time was not certain if necessary repairs would render the property economically unfeasible as a restaurant.
Now, after an extensive renovation, the restaurant is set to reopen in the next few weeks.
The menu will closely mirror that of the other J. Buner's location, and feature steaks and seafood in a fine dining setting.
The kitchen has been remodeled, the basement turned into a wine cellar, and the building itself has received a freshening inside and out.
In addition, many of the overgrown trees have been pruned and the winding, private drive repaved.
The restaurant is currently interviewing for staff positions.
