Blanchard superintendent search under way

The Blanchard School Board is continuing its search for a superintendent for next year and will begin reviewing applications Feb. 15.

Sandra Parks, the current superintendent of Blanchard Public Schools, submitted her resignation at the regular school board meeting Jan. 8, said Judy Williamson, school board president.

The school board has advertised for the position on its Web site and in the newspaper, Williamson said. Resumes will be accepted until Feb. 15, when the school board will hold a special meeting to discuss the resumes.

“We’re just waiting for that special meeting to sit down and go through them, and then start calling [applicants] for interviews,” Williamson said.

The board of five will interview each qualified candidate. Williamson said they have not yet set a target date for hiring.

“We’ll just continue the search until we find the appropriate candidate,” Parks said.

Parks and Williamson said they do not foresee any difficulty in finding an adequate replacement.

Parks said more than 50 people applied for the position when she was hired in September 2003.

“We’ve had some good resumes turned in already,” Williamson said.

Parks will continue working through June 30, the end of the fiscal year, Williamson said.


I am so glad to see this person leaving the district I live in. I hope other schools in the state of Oklahoma refuse to hire her. When we passed the bond issue a few years ago to build our new High School, Mrs. Parks also got new furniture out fo the deal instead of the high school things we though we were paying for.. I personally think Mrs. Parks should pay back the money to Blanchard Kids, but seeing her GONE forever is payback enough. Be warned vote against her if she comes to your school...
