Default U.S.Grant High School

U.S. Grant is one of the first schools to get a major face-lift...it is being rebuilt. It's the school my son goes to and they are really making head way on the construction. The weird thing is seeing all the vacant lots where all the houses used to be that they torn down to build the school.

I'm glad to see that they cleared all of those old homes out.......it makes way for expansion of the school.....or should I say, demolishing the old school and building a brand new one.

US Grant, John Marshall, and Douglas will be the crown jewels of the Oklahoma City School District when they are completed.

Yes. However, I still think it is a slap in the face that the alumni at Grant was not consulted before the final plans were announced.

I have heard that Douglass was the only school that got that respect.

I still think you'll be impressed with the new plans for US Grant High School....actually it will probably be the nicest of all of the new schools.

I drive by US Grant just about every day, and they are really making progress on the construction. Right now they are moving lots of dirt around, doing the leveling. On the south side of the project, they have a mound of dirt that has to be at least 3-4 stories high. Plus, there are trucks continuously hauling dirt in everyday.

They have large pipe sitting on the site, and it looks like the pipe may be used for drainage purposes. What is so cool is that I get to watch this thing get built since I don't live very far from it and my son goes to school there .

I don't remember how long this project is suppose to take, but it will be nice when they start to pour the foundation and actually start the building progress.

Hey, mranderson, you need to go by there and see what they are doing. I think you will be surprised at how much they already have done.

I hope they have an open house for the alumni. I feel hosed because we did not get any input on the new building, and I would REALLY feel hosed if I do not get a chance to see the results.

I spent three years of my life there, and half of that was torture. I deserve something in return for my three years of loyalty.

I went by U.S. Grant today, and they are definitely making progress. The huge mound of dirt that is on the south side of the construction site has gone down alot. Before, you couldn't see the tops of the houses because the huge mound of dirt was in the way. Now, you can see the houses, so they are moving the dirt at a quick rate.

They have already laid a slab on the north side of the construction site, and there is evidence that some of the utility lines have been laid.

All in all, things are looking real good.

Why on earth would the alumni have any word on a new high school? What, do you want your name engraved into the hallways? I guess I don't get it.

I applaud them for simply building a new school.

That one is simple. The alumni of John Marshall and , I think, even Douglass wre allowed input. So, it is only fair we get input on Grant.

My name engraved into the hallways? It already is.

Having just recently purchased a house in the US Grant school district, I'm extremely happy about the overhaul there.

I have lived in the US Grant district for the last 20 years, and my son is a student there. He will be a senior next year, so he will not get to enjoy the finished product. Things are looking real good, though.
