No, not really; and not as much clout either.

I admire your self control. I couldn't resist.
![]() What the heck, it was all in fun anyway.

I don't know about the stature of online degrees, but I'm enrolled in an online OSU mathematics course: I'm really impressed by the coursebook. The book's Publisher has many online tools available to help the students to better understand the material:
I can watch a problem being solved by clicking a button. Another button is an email link to the Instructor, so that I can refer questions to him about a particular problem. Another link invokes a PDF of that portion of the textbook pertinent to the problem being solved. And there's quite a bit more... The book was $104 used, but I'm really impressed by the ways in which the Publisher has integrated online content into the more traditional method of instruction. To top it all off, I get to do everything but the Mid-Term and Final while sitting in my Study. I suppose I'm way behind the times: are such courses common in today's educational world? |

![]() I believe that there was a spell check button, but it seems to have gone away with upgrades to the forum software. Back on topic, what brought up this thread? Are you considering an online degree program?

So I looked at some online schools, but I just don't want to waste my time with getting a degree that people look at and kinda just shrug at. |

There are many MBA programs available now that are part-time for working people, and have a pretty short duration (maybe a year?). I remember when I got my MBA part-time, it was a 3 year program (UGH!) and I got to go to school on weeknights & Saturdays.
I really wouldn't bother with an online degree (though taking a few classes online through a real university is totally cool!) Check into Oklahoma City Univeristy's MBA program, or maybe some of the local universities. You'd be surpirsed at what's out there. Good luck to you, ibda12u! |

as an added bonus, here's a link to OKC University's Accelerated MBA program. They've got some information sessions coming up...may be worth checking out.

i took a math course online at OU. We hardly had any material available to help ourselves but we did have a tutoring service. If you have a full time day job you probably won't be able to use the service though.
Also, we still have to drop off and pick up homework at an office that closes at 5pm. Good luck rushing to turn that sucker in. |

Think of it like this -- would you hire a doctor or a lawyer who received their degree from an online school even if they were Board Certified/had passed the Bar?
-- I think no.
