Default Unidentified structure going up in Bricktown

I was biking around downtown and bricktown today and noticed this ugly building being constructed in Bricktown. To put this in perspective this is directly south of Toby Keiths (TBK's) just on the south side of I-40 and NE of Rocktown. This is directly west of the beginning of the sculpture park in Lower Bricktown. I couldn't make out what it was. There was somebody out there surveying and I tried to track them down but they disappeared before I could get over there. Needless to say, it looks like it is going to be a cheap, boxy, metal building.

My guess is it's the new $21,000,000.00 practice facility.

Not clear if that is Rocktown property, but perhaps their new mission needs more classroom or storage space, or even a large bouldering venue? Just pure guesses. Support beams seem too massive for a large open pavillion so I'm presuming it ends up enclosed.

Steve, can you verify what this is?

It is a storage and maintenance building for the City's Grounds Division. They will have a few offices in there, and will store the equipment they use for mowing and maintaining the landscape along the river and Bricktown Canal.

I hope it's going to be more than a metal shed. I was thinking it would be some sort of maintenance facility ( I was thinking for the boats ). FritterGirl, do they plan on hiding the building with trees, fence, etc? It is going to be an eyestore, especially when the boulevard is built.

I don't have any specific details on what the final design will be, nor about landscaping, so wouldn't want to speculate. Given the fact this is very close to the landrun statue, I'm sure some consideration will be given to the landscaping. Please remember, however, that since the primary use of this building is for storage and maintenance, making certain there is room to move heavy equipment safely in and out of the structure is paramount to any other considerations.

Metro, Frittergirl is correct (Fritter, are you with the parks department?). My understanding is it will replace the operations next to the old Boone's General Store. Now, as for the design ... it did not have to go through Urban Renewal or the Bricktown Urban Design Committee for design review. So you might want to contact parks or public works to find out whether the city is looking to match the standards it has set for private property owners.

Despite this not being the case exactly, Rocktown is expanding, and will soon open more of the silos for climbing.
