Thumbs up Foley's at Penn Square

I have had really good experiences at Foley's lately. My fiancee and I purchased two dresses (for our bride's maids) from Foley's recently. Unfortunately, they didn't have the sizes we wanted. It was Sunday evening....Tulsa Woodland Hills (the only other Foley's in the state besides Penn Square which has a formal dress department) had the sizes we wanted, but we didn't want to have to drive up there Sunday night, but we still wanted to use the weekend 20% off coupon. The lady at the Penn Square store spoke with management over at Woodland Hills, and not only got all of the dress sizes held for us, but also gave us an extra discount beyond the coupon to pay for the trip to Tulsa (unfortunately Foley's doesn't have the capability of shipping dresses from store to store).
A few weeks later, when we had to return a few of the dresses (in Tulsa we purchased several sizes as our 2 bride's maids weren't there, and we wanted to be on the safe side). We found out that the dresses were marked down an additional $20 each. They adjusted the price for us, still allowing us to have the original discount. Then we found out that same day that they had a promotion going on where for every $50 you spent you got a $10 gift card. Well, we really didn't make a purchase that day, but because the price adjustment process involved the return of the dresses,a nd the repurchase of them at the new price, they gave us the gift cards......worth $40.

The Foleys at Penn Square went far and above what we expected when it came to service. We couldn't have asked for a better shopping experience.

I used to work at Penn Square. Knew one of the Foley's dock workers. He told us he saw an invoice for leather jackets that were then selling for around $300. He said the cost on them was $15.00.

For that type of markup, you kind of have to demand good service.

Yeah, that's the way it works at most upscale stores. I have a friend who works at Pendelton at 50 Penn Place. She tells me that a shirt retailnig at $100 probably costs the company around $10. That's how a lot of the upscale stores are able to say in business with only a few customers. I realize Foley's is a department store, but the same concept applies in regards to marking up prices.

Hey Midtowner, how lnog did you work at Sharper Image at Penn Square? And during what time period?

It was '99-'00 or '00-'01 (I forget).

I also worked at the RadioShack there from '95 until '99 when it closed.

Just out of curiosity, in regards to the mall itself, personally, did you like the old victorian look better or do you like the new contemporary look better?
