Talking Need Vet

Hmm, I don't know if I should put this in Best & Worst or Pets...

I took my lovely kitty to Neel Vet Clinic and the people there were excellent! Dr. Tina Neel is my Vet forever now! She's the best veterinarian I've ever been to, and she's one of the nicest people I've ever met in my life!! Also, the technician... I wish I could remember her name. She has brown curly hair... she's amazing as well. She's so sweet!

They are all so wonderful when I took my cat in twice in the last couple of weeks. I went there based on reviews from other people, and the fact that they're open after my roommate gets off work. I don't think I'll ever go anywhere else!! (And there are several a lot closer.)

Feel the same about my vet...Lot of pressure on vet's making a first impression...They come off anything short of seriously interested and concerned then they won't see my furry kids again

I used to go there and kept seeing different people everytime. When I asked, they responded that he/she doesn't work there anymore, it seemed like a lot of turn-over for such a seeming pleasant lady. Then I ran into one of the girls that worked there at a grocery store, she said that Dr. Neel was very cruel to people that were not family or considered her favorites, she ended up quitting after countless evening of going home in tears. This poor girl had children to feed and was working there for very little money. I'm glad they are great to your animals, but I think people should come first.

That's weird. Dr. Neel chatted with us for about 45 minutes to an hour after my cat had already been given his check up. She has stayed late (as have her staff members that usually only work during the day) to accommodate my roommate's schedule, and has emailed me progress reports after needing to have results of an echocardiogram sent off to a cardiologist. She works until 1am at least, because that's when she emails me. She is very personable, sharing stories from her life and asking and remembering about ours. We both think she's wonderful, and both remarked about how we'd like to know her outside of doctor/patient relationship as well, because she seems like such a extraordinary person!

The technician that works with her told us that she has worked with many vets in her career and Dr. Neel seems to go above and beyond for her patients and their families. I don't know what she's like to work with, but I'm sure she demands the very best out of them.

But, I mean, I'm sure everyone has different experiences.

Maybe....I no longer had a need once my dog died to go back, but I started to wonder towards the end of her life when I would go in and someone I had never met before called me by name and looked at me like I was terribly missed in the 2 weeks that I had not come in. That's when I started noticing the turn-over. It was a good 6 months later when I ran into the girl that I liked so well up there. I had remembered her because she was so friendly and treated me like family. I look back at it all and can't help but think.....of course....the more money your spending......

I've been going there for years and everybody has been great. Strangely enough, I've never actually met Dr. Neel, so I can't comment about her. The only time I had a complaint about something that happened there (rude employee), I received an immediate apology and it sounded as thought they really wanted to make things right.

I think it is great that we have a 24 hour vet here in OKC. I also like that they have on-site grooming, day care, and boarding.

I wrote in an earlier thread about Banfield, which is inside PetSmart. I said they have treated two of my dogs, one, Holly, until the second she died. They are passionate, friendly, and very inexpensive when you buy the Wellness Plan.

Some on this board have disagreed, which is their right, however, I will stand behind and recommend Banfield until the day I die.

And, that's certainly you're right to be overcharged, your pets overmedicated and the care to be inconsistent.

Whereas, I've found most of the local vets to be more caring, more dedicated and more honest. After several bad experiences with Banfield, we found a wonderful vet here in Edmond who our pets look forward to seeing. When they go to see the vet, our dogs stay there all day and they seem to enjoy it thoroughly. I have all the confidence in the world in that vet, something I was seriously lacking with Banfield.

Here in Moore, I have used both Ranchwood Vet Clinic (Dr. Guthrie) and most recently Boyer Vet Clinic (Dr. Jeff Boyer and his brother).

I started going to Boyer after adopting my cats and they were on the certificate I received for free spaying surgeries. I've only seen Dr. Jeff, and a couple of techs, in the few times I've been up there, and everyone has been very friendly. They are closed on the weekends, but are open late a couple of days a week if needed.

In fact, I just remembered it's time for Sydney's shots. Better make that appointment on Monday.
