Default Travel Agent???

I was wondering if anyone recommends any travel agents in the metro. I'm looking at going to Vegas next month. Usually I use like Hotwire or Priceline but this time they tacked on a bunch of "hidden fees". I was just curious if I could shop around and possibly get a better deal at an agent, at least perhaps better quality for my money.

I've done the agent thing in the past for Vegas. The only time I got a better deal was during a heavily visited tradeshow weekend.

We usually do the worryfreevacations.com thing with good results.

Every time I have used a travel agent, I got hosed. I can save more money doing it myself. Just cruise the internet, keep on top of it, and as soon as you find what you like on the dates involved, grab it. 86 the travel agent.

I prefer online booking for maximum savings so I don't have the name of a travel agent but I just received an email regarding Vegas specials below:

Las Vegas Vacation Destinations and Package Deals

I know a good one, though I never use an agent any more. Trisha Smith at Travel Agents Inc. 752-5252...she planned my entire destination wedding.

Thanks all. Yeah I'm usually a internet traveler as I previously mentioned and stay on top of it. For some reason I've seen a lot of flaky stuff out there for Vegas only though. That's why I mentioned possibly using an agent. I know Vegas hotels subsidize so much of the cost its hard to beat the internet, but I'll try again. Usually I found Hotwire and vegas.com to be the cheapest by far. I'll call a few agents and see what they can do. From the hundreds of reviews I read, it seemed to be better to pay just a few more dollars with an agent and the quality of the rooms, service you get seems to be worth the few dollars extra spent from what I've read on tripadvisor.com ,etc.

Oh yeah, I want to add my experience with a travel agent. My husband & I booked a cruise w/ the travel agent on 19th & I-35 here in Moore. We were going to drive to Galveston the night before, stay in a hotel, and leave port the next day on the ship. Well my agent tells me about this wonderful hotel she stayed in and it's $113 a night. I'm thinking thats expensive but then again it's a tourist destination so not really.

Well, anyway, when we got there we unpacked some of our luggage and were sitting down on the bed and watching some tv and my husband goes "OMG what is that on the dresser?" It was a roach. We were like ok fine we'll jsut put all our stuff in the car and sleep here to make sure we dont take any with us. Then we lay down and my husband gets up to go to the bathroom. When he comes back and looks at the bed there is a roach like right next to his pillow.

Needless to say, we left that craphole and they wouldnt give me my money back. I had to pay $269 to sleep roach free in Galveston. Thanks travel agent!

I ended up going with Worry Free Vacations, its the first time I used that site. They were by far the cheapest for the exact same hotel, etc. I didn't go with the lowest hotel (didn't want to crapshoot). After reading countless reviews of vegas travelers on tripadvisor.com and others, I ended up going with the Luxor, far best value for the money.

I was going to recommend worryfreevacations and then I got to your post and saw that was what you decided on. Good choice! Vegas on a budget was easy at one time when they basically gave away hotel rooms, but alas, those days are gone. The Luxor will be fine and Champion Air does a great job getting you there and back, sounds like you did the right thing. Your wedding is the weekend of the 24th of February, is that right? Congratulations again, Metro. Vegas will be a fun way to start your life together.
