Thumbs down Northpark Dollar Movies

Okay, before I begin my rant, I know everyone will say you get what you pay for and you are right.. but I'm really p'od right now so I'm venting!

First off, I have to say that I've wanted to see this movie for a long time.
The reason why I am so upset is that the entire movie was ruined for me because of this experience with the theatre.

We were waiting for the movie to begin and I noticed it was very cool in the theatre.. I thought, okay, it's 90 degrees outside so they are getting the theatre cold... and the temp will regulate.

About 20 minutes later... it was so cold it was unbearable, I was covered in goose bumps. I went out and asked the teeny bopper attendant to please turn down the air as it was painfully cold in the theatre. She informed me it was preset. I told her no way... the thermostat must be broken because my teeth were chattering.

She came in with a flashlight, looked at the temp console, and walked out.

Good, I was thinking, okay she must have adjusted it and we would all warm up. But, again about 20 min later .. I looked around, my son had his arms in his t-shirt and pulled over his knees for warmth and a lady in shorts a few rows up was doing the same thing! My oldest son was rubbing his arms and so were a few other people.. older folks had sweaters covering them (smart) and younger ones were curled up in balls in the seats to stay warm! I couldn't believe it. I couldn't even focus on the movie and I'm not exaggerating.. the back of my arms felt like ice cubes and my feet were like blocks of ice.

After about an hour, I couldn't take it... this was ridiculous. Out I went again... I again asked them to please adjust the temp.. another kid walked in and looked at it with a flashlight.. I thought he turned it up... out he went. I tried to get the kids to leave and we could come back again with down jackets but they said no. I put my son on my lap in an attempt to keep warm.. not much luck there. I couldn't even focus on the damn movie!

The movie was finally nearly over and I went to stand in the back of the theatre against the wall so the gust of frigid air wasn't blasting directly on me.

When the movie ended, I asked the girl if she actually adjusted the temp or just looked at it and she said she just looked at it! I was sssoooo pissed. I started asking people, was it cold in there and they all started saying - it was Freezing!! A few other people said they had come out and asked if they would turn it up.. but they never did!

I got the manager's number but when I called, someone took a message for him.. I said forget it. He doesn't care..she had already called him I'm sure.

Never again... it was a miserable crappy experience.

From now on, I'll go to Quail Springs for wait for the DVD.

They maybe on a NOVAR type system as we are at work.

If they are, they have no control over the settings of the Air Conditioning system. All the settings are controlled by a central office.

Most NOVAR like systems have a series of temperature gauges and sensors throughout the building that transmit information back to a central office. The computer and attendants at the central office make adjustments as needed.

For all we know the theater you were in and the theater next door may share the same sensor network. The theater next-door was warm and yours was cold.

Many businesses have this feature just keep energy costs stable. NOVAR keeps the people who operate the building from under and over adjusting the air controls.

What the girl may have been doing is reading the temperature and reporting it to her supervisor. When the sensors are not working properly the central office people usually, want to know what the temperature is when you call them.

The supervisor probably called the central office and had it adjusted if that was the case. It may just take a few minutes for the necessary changes to reach the theaters Air system computer.

The other scenario could be that Northpark Mall's management office may control the system. They may have had to go though Northpark to make the changes. This also may take time if they run a computer operated HVAC system.

We go through this all the time at work with our NOVAR system just because our store is almost 15 years old now. Some days it is pleasant, Someday it is too hot and others it is freezing cold.

Yes, that could be but it was so incredibly cold.. it had to be a malfunction.

I usually always take a lightweight jacket or sweater and almost never need one.. this time, I was so cold I couldn't even tell you what the movie was about!

At the very least, the employees should have called the supervisor and told them they were having many complaints.

Of course, now I'm nice and warm, I'm feeling better but sheesh, the whole experience was so unpleasant.

They should have done something to compensate you for your inconvenience.

If I were you I would drop their corporate office a friendly email. They might send you free tickets or something.

I dropped the corporate office of EL Chico an email once because the waitress was just horrible and had an attitude from hell.

They sent me a $30 gift card and I even got call from their district manager to make sure I received the card.

Let me suggest that you take a coat next time. You know, those warm things with zippers, for when you never know what the temperature is going to be like. And please, don't spend your hard earned money at AMC. The place is a dump. Go to Harkins.
