Seeing that again cracked me up. That crazy day I had to switch back and forth between 4 and 5 to watch Conder lecturing motorists and Jiao Jiao Shen stranded at the airport.

Good hire for KOCO. He'll be a quality add for Damon's team.

Jonathan Condor was a big asset to channel 4. Someone at channel 5 is SMART!

I loved that guy...I wonder why he did not want to stay in Minnesota though, it's a bigger market.

And I am frankly glad he tells it like it is....people here can't drive worth a damn when its 70 and sunny out, never mind in a freak blizzard!

Good to see he's coming back. Alas, I'm not up at that time and I'm not a fan of KOCO.

I honestly couldn't see him giving up Chief somewhere else to be a morning guy here. I would imagine it would be a pay cut for him if he did that.

Jonathan was manning the Ch4 table at a home & garden show few years ago. Husband asked what he thought about recent earthquakes, to which JC replied that meteorologists are about what goes on in the sky, while geologists are about what happens underground. He then handed me an autographed photo of himself and sent us on our way. Gosh, I regret not keeping that picture.

Never care for the guy. He always came off like he was God's gift to meteorology. He was perfect for Channel 4.

I think you are confusing him with Nick Bender. LOL

This story about Jonathan Conder was posted over a month ago. I notice he is still on the WANE TV website. So, is he coming or not, lol?

I have a feeling TV meteorologist will eventually be trimmed down to one or two per channel. Thanks to smartphone apps, I am lucky if I watch one or two newscasts a week. I am sure many other people are doing the same thing.

What I find funny is the little teasers the newsreaders are putting on their Twitter and Facebook pages to get people to tune in.

That doesn't even make sense. Do you expect people to work 12 hours shifts every day?

You need to have someone in the morning and also in the evening. So that's at least 2. You also need someone on the weekend, if not 2 (one morning and one night)...so that's 3 to 4. From a staffing standpoint you simply can't go to just 1 or 2 unless you plan on having forecast segments pretaped which would be suicide in this market.

The only way they cut back is if they cut out newscasts. Trend has been in the other direction.

I just think technology will eventually phase out the need for on air personalities. Where not to far away from computer software doing most of the leg work in forecasting. The only thing meteorologist will have to do is check the work of the software every so often for accuracy.

Only if newscasts go away. If there is a live newscast, they'll keep a meteorologist there - at least in this market. Smaller or markets where weather isn't a huge ratings driver, they already share resources with other stations ore reduce the number of newscasts.

Computer software already does much of the leg work, but it still comes down to human interpretation to be somewhat accurate. I think you underestimate exactly what all goes into it.

So, I had a bit of a chuckle today when KOCO used Jonathan for the Breaking News report on the earthquake. Was it weather, or news? Ha!
