I can't join you in saying it's "wrong" because it's perfectly legal what they're doing in most cases. If someone thinks they've been unlawfully deprived, I suppose they can file a civil rights claim. Until that happens, my view of border searches as far as the law goes is that pretty much anything goes.
Absent truly abusive practices, which would be beyond someone being simply inconvenienced, I don't really see a huge issue here.
