Default Re: Obama and Taxes

Actually, a sitting president can legislate; however, they cannot do it on their own. All they have to do is call any senator or legislator into the office and ask them to do it for them. It is very easy to do if your party has control of both the house and senate.

To be honest I am scared of what 2009 will bring. Either candidate is going to run up are national debt and raise taxes. It amazes me that neither candidate has suggested downsizing government services and cutting spending. Neither candidate is suggesting any real solutions.

We need to change the mindset of most Americans. People need to learn to weather storms independently. The government does need to come to the rescue for every little pain you endure.

(IE: Gas prices go up, suck it up. Move closer to work or work closer to home. If you cannot do that, you will remember next to time to buy car that is practical instead of what is cool.)

If you make a mess of your life, you are in charge of cleaning it up. If a disaster happens, you should only get the bare minimum basics and nothing else.

I want to see the government get out of the business of bailing people and companies out of trouble. If you have to bail yourself out your ten times likely to be prepared for the next mess. There are no free lunches, healthcare or retirement funds. Somebody is paying for it.

If I could make a statement to every American, I would say:

"Quit your griping, get to work, if you’re not going to take any action to solve your problems sit down and shut up. Take care of yourself, the people you love and remember to help those that are less fortunate then you. Every privilege comes with a list of responsibilities. It is not your government's job to wipe your butt and help you blow your nose. Voting for one politician or the other will not improve your life. Step up and take charge. Only you can change your life for the better. No one else has that power."

I am not a rich by any means nor am I poor. I just found that solving your own problems makes change happen today. Waiting for someone else to do it can take days, weeks, months and sometimes years.
