Honestly, I think this young mother didn't want to get her butt out of bed either because she was drugged up or because she was sleep deprived. She ignored the screams of a baby hoping he'd just be quiet and leave her alone - which as it turned out, is going to happen. I suspect the puppy throught this was a toy or a varmint and just ate it. Once it started bleeding - and since it couldn't get away - he just ate it. I know all this is gross but that is what I suspect happened. Where was grandma? Definitely drugged up, I suspect. I can't imagine a grown woman in her right mind would just let a baby scream. That they let a puppy have the run of the house for this length of time is disgusting. They aren't house trained at that age. These people must have been pigs. No offense to pigs.

As to whether I think a man would be more likely to commit a crime - well, I do guardian ad litem work so women don't get a by. If it were a step dad, I might be more likely to believe it was deliberate foul play but Dads vs. Moms - nah, I don't have any real bias. I have seen way too many guys take the fall for their girlfriends/wives, and way too many courts cut a deal with the woman to convict the guy to have much faith that women are likely to be above it all. But I think these were just dirt heads.
