OKC school board names superintendent

July 8, 2008 Karl Springer, superintendent of Mustang Public Schools, was selected on Monday as superintendent of Oklahoma City Public Schools.His appointment is effective July 15. He will receive a salary and benefits totaling $185,000.He replaces John Q. Porter, who became superintendent just a year ago in July 2007. Porter resigned in January along with board Chairman Cliff Hudson after a bitter dispute between the two men.
