Default Ford Center gearing up for March Madness

Man, it's that time already. March Madness is coming up soon! And once again, we have the privilege of having part of it at the Ford Center.

I can't wait!

"Teams to play at The Ford Center still up in the air

The following is a script from a NEWS 9 broadcast
We're about a week away from March Madness. And everyone wants to know who'll be playing in Oklahoma City. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University would both like to play here. But so would Kansas.

NEWS 9 report

Two Big 12 teams are possible, even likely. But three? Forget about it.

Gan Matthews is at the Ford Center, as the excitement, and the anxiety, mount.

The NCAA will send no more than two members of a conference to a regional site.

Until last weekend, it looked like OSU and Kansas had the best chance to come here.

But with both those teams losing over the weekend, and OU winning, the plot is thickening.

What do the bracket gurus predict?

Bracketology puts OU and OSU in Tuscon, and Kansas in Oklahoma City.

Bracketography puts OU and Kansas in Oklahoma City, and OSU in Tuscon.

And CollegeRPI.com puts OSU and Kansas in Oklahoma City, and OU in Tuscon. Who's right?

The All Sports Association is gearing up for the regional and has 30 banners ready to adorn the city. But the folks here have no inside knowledge about who's coming.

Fans of OU and OSU would, of course, love to have their team playing here. Some worry though that if both state teams come, downtown hotels would suffer because fans in the metro won't use them.

The folks at Downtown OKC Inc. think that fear is overblown.

And most fans, whether they stay at hotels or not, will want to spend their dollars on food and entertainment in Bricktown.

We'll find out where all the teams are going next Sunday afternoon. That's when CBS will unveil the 2005 NCAA bracket. Tune in to NEWS 9 at 5 p.m. on Sunday."
