Re: John Marshall Petition
I think I finally found a topic that I can chime in on even though I found this site because I "Googled" Aaron Tuttle.
I am a graduate of JM. As a result of being a "white girl" in a predominately black school, aside from the fact that I grew up in North Highlands (gang neighborhood) I learned to not make eye contact with anyone, walk a straight line to my classes and NEVER ever talk to anyone that you didn't trust. After graduating with those "life skills" I suffered terribly at the small Junior College that I received a full scholarship to because I didn't know how to socialize with my peers. I got married and moved as far away from there as I could. One of my biggest regrets in life is that I was unable to enjoy my high school years.
I doesn't sound like the hallways have changed much, other than it is a new building. So...my advice to people would be that if you want your child to be anything more than a zombie walking through the halls of school, perhaps with a self taught tunnel vision, I would do whatever you feel is best for your child even if that means going to a different school.
